After 20 years of dodging thrown instruments and getting called in to work in the middle of the night, Crohns disease dropped me in my tracks.Oldfoolrnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01747485143127099085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615497490885488809.post-77544198221951715132017-12-11T16:48:14.068-08:002017-12-11T16:48:14.068-08:00"There comes a time when you must step back, ..."There comes a time when you must step back, let the younger stronger people take the load and find a calmer quieter place to be."<br /><br />When you do that, it is the greatest feeling going as you feel you make a difference with your patients instead of feeling as if all you are doing is putting out forest fires. <br />And you can hang up your roller skates!<br />Because keeping your sanity is the most important asset to keep.Suzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07117433684554337583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615497490885488809.post-51353073424508727772017-12-09T23:14:47.112-08:002017-12-09T23:14:47.112-08:00Big city ER's are for the young guns to work i...Big city ER's are for the young guns to work in. I started my career in the 70's in the knife and gun clubs of E.LA on Brooklyn Av.. (now Cesar Chavez Blvd I hear). Did mobile imaging in the 80's for the biggest mobile imaging company around....in places as small as Santa Ana Doctors Hosp. to places like Daniel Freeman, MLK etc. Managed an imaging department in Glendale.....ran a free standing imaging center in Huntington Park. And got burnt out along the way. Finally said enough. Moved to Podunk and now work in a Critical Access Hospital. Still get to practice my skills. But also get to keep my sanity. There comes a time when you must step back, let the younger stronger people take the load and find a calmer quieter place to be.Dannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615497490885488809.post-17821823929537032412017-12-09T13:25:41.564-08:002017-12-09T13:25:41.564-08:00I know exactly what you're talking about. No lunch breaks because I can't find five minutes to stop moving to the sound of that stupid patient call button alarm system. Administrators have managed to jam 16 hours of work into a 12 hour shift (how is it a 12 hour shift when we are here for 14 hours?)... I'm out.The Gray Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15098168056466325559noreply@blogger.com
